On Saturday 4th October at the National Park Visitor Centre and Wednesday 8th October at Craig-y-nos Country Park, both Centres will be transformed into mini-observatories, offering star gazers a wonderful opportunity to view the night sky and learn more about astronomy from the Cardiff and Swansea Astronomical Societies. Starting at 7.00pm both sessions are limited to 50 people so booking is essential.
Richard Levy, National Park Visitor Centres Manager said: “Next year is the ‘International Year of Astronomy’ so the timing couldn’t better for people to take part in an evening of star gazing. Our Visitor Centres are the perfect locations to hold star gazing events, with the ideal combination of being easy to get to but still secluded from light pollution.
“The event at the National Park Visitor Centre, near Libanus is £4 for adults and £2.50 for children but this includes parking, soup and a roll. We are advising people to wrap up warm, bring their binoculars, blankets and even a picnic if they want to. The event at the Country Park is just £2.50 for parking but as numbers are limited, we advise early booking to guarantee your viewing place. ”
