It is not unusual for
holiday makers to search out and sample local delicacies during their trip, but
visitors to the Bannau Brycheiniog are set to get real VIP treatment from the True
Taste of Wales winning food suppliers’ hampers now available to order from
Bannau Brycheiniog Holiday Cottages. Stuffed full of award-winning local produce it
could be delivered straight to the doorstep of their Bannau Brycheiniog holiday
cottage – which could be booked to arrive even before they do!
The True Taste of the
Beacons hamper is filled with tasty treats and picnic snacks from a varied
range of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park food producers who scooped Gold, Silver
and Bronze awards in last year’s ‘Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Awards’ –
dubbed by some foodies as the Welsh Food Oscars.
With funding support
from Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority’s COLLABOR8 Interreg IVB NWE
project the idea behind the True Taste of the Beacons hamper came into fruition
and is now being offered within a 20 mile radius of Bwlch to all Bannau Brycheiniog
Holiday Cottages.
Among the delicious
delights hidden in the hamper are scrumptious smoked salmon and duck courtesy
of Black Mountains Smokery, succulent sausages and steaks from the Beacons Farm
Shop at the Welsh Venison Centre, and sumptuous salami from Trealy Farm
Charcuterie. For afters there are beautiful biscuits provided by Cradoc’s
Savoury Biscuits and crumbly cheese in the shape of Smoked Blaenavon Pwll Mawr
Cheddar.
Refreshments come in
the form of wonderful Welsh Farmhouse Apple Juice and a bottle of Black
Mountains-drawn Brecon Carreg Sparkling Water.
Food lovers are also
being encouraged to visit the food producers’ outlets direct, which is now
being promoted through the Bannau Brycheiniog True Taste Food Trail – a collection
of 10 ‘Wales the True Taste Food and Drink Awards’ winners around the National
Park offering special deals. Look out for the newly produced Bannau Brycheiniog
True Taste Food Trail leaflet to get your hands on these special offers and
make your stay in the Bannau Brycheiniog even more memorable.
