The Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority has welcomed three new Members. Ms Deborah Perkin, Mr James Marsden and Mr Julian Stedman. Current Authority Members greeted them at the National Park Authority Meeting on 8 April and they will now continue their induction into their role on the governing body of the National Park Authority.

The new members replace Mrs Julie James and Mr Martin Buckle who have both completed their maximum terms and Ms Carys Howell who left in 2014 and was not replaced at that time. They take their places on the National Park Authority which is made up of 24 members and makes all the key decisions on budgets and policy and on the Planning and Rights of Way Committee.
The new members were selected by a panel on behalf of the Welsh Government through open competition and come from a range of different backgrounds, each bringing with them valuable experience to contribute to their new roles:
Ms Perkin is an award-winning documentary film maker, she worked for the BBC for many years in various roles including as a producer/director and now runs her own production company. Ms Perkin also makes time for voluntary work in education and equality. Mr Marsden holds qualifications in Town and Country Planning, he worked for Natural England in land management and agri-environment and retains a personal interest in Marine conservation. Crickhowell-based Mr Stedman holds qualifications in architecture and environmental planning and worked as an architect/planner. Since 2011 he has owned and run a bed and breakfast business and is one of the Authority’s Tourism Ambassadors.
Melanie Doel, Chairman of the National Park Authority said, “On behalf of current members, staff and myself I would like to welcome the new members to the Authority. They have an important role to play as decision makers at the National Park Authority and from their first meeting they have already shown themselves to be engaged in the important task of protecting this unique landscape.”
