The Authority recently invited land-owners, developers and members of the public to submit ‘Candidate Sites’ that will identify land to address the National Park’s development needs, including proposals for housing, employment, retailing and community facilities in the revised Local Development Plan (LDP). This initial call for candidate sites closed on 7th January 2019.
We received a total of 117 sites and all of the candidate sites submitted are available to view in the Candidate Sites Registers below. The candidate sites submitted at this stage were subject to a high level assessments to help inform the Preferred Strategy. The Registers comprise a record of the sites that have successfully passed the first stage of the process and the site that have failed.

(Please note: The inclusion of a candidate site in the ‘Passed’ Register does not represent a commitment from the Authority that a site is suitable for development or that it will be taken forward to the Revised Deposit LDP)
At Stage 2, additional detailed information will need to be provided for those sites passed at the first stage of the process. This information will need to be submitted via a standardised form which is available to download below. This will ensure that the required additional information is provided in order to undertake a full assessment of the site. Any sites submitted as part of Stage 1 which are not supplemented with a standardised form at Stage 2, will not be assessed and will not be considered for inclusion in the LDP.
At stage 2 there is also an opportunity to submit additional candidate sites, providing developers/landowners believe they conform to the Preferred Strategy. All candidate sites will need to be submitted via a standardised form (available to download below). In order to be assessed and considered for the LDP, a candidate site must be accompanied with a completed standardised form and detailed information. The standardised form contains criteria to assist the Authority in assessing the suitability of the sites for inclusion as allocations in the LDP.
Candidate site submissions must answer all the questions set out in the standardised form and submissions much include an indicative timetable for delivery. Guidance notes are provided for further information on the second stage.
