Excitement is building for what promises to be a fun-filled and action packed
long weekend, with over 70-trade stands set to spill on to the front lawn and
surrounding fields of the National Park Visitor Centre (Mountain Centre) near
Libanus.
With Pen y Fan offering the perfect backdrop, a huge Welsh wares market will
provide residents and visitors with traditional craft demonstrations and food
produce, fresh from the boundaries of National Park. Food enthusiasts will be
delighted with displays from Ralph’s Cider, Llanfaes Dairy ice-cream, Popta Cara’s award winning bara brith, Caroline’s
Real Bread, Cothi Valley Cheese, Welsh Whisky Company to name but a few.
The Cardiff
based Cotwold Outdoor Company makes its second appearance at the Fayre,
bringing over 50 tents of all shapes and sizes. Cotswold will be demonstrating
how to assemble a first class tent, as well as actively promoting camping
within the Brecon Beacons.
Valleys Radio will also be at the Fayre on Saturday presenting their live show
giving away loads of free goodie bags.
While adults browse through the endless selection of crafts, children will be
entertained by a range of inspiring activities including willow sculpting,
badge-making, face-painting, pottery turning, a bouncy castle, and guitar and
folk dancing lessons.
Mrs Mary Taylor, Chairman of Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, is delighted
with the growing success of the Summer Fayre . She said: “We hope to see
more than 10,000 people coming to the Fayre over the long weekend. This is the
perfect opportunity to learn more about your National Park and the local
organisations and businesses that support our work. What makes this year so
special is that we have introduced new activities that will ensure there’s
plenty of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.”
