Free screenings of ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ – Monday 19 Nov

The aim of the screening is to increase awareness and understanding of climate change, and, hopefully, to motivate communities and individual households to reduce their carbon footprint.

The two film screenings will be at the Brecon Coliseum Cinema on Monday 19th November 2007 at 7.30pm and Sunday 25th November at 2.30pm.

Free information packs will be offered to those who attend and after the screenings, officers from the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority will be on hand to answer any questions.

Whilst much of the content of ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ is regarded as valid by the great majority of scientific opinion worldwide there are parts of the film that present evidence and arguments which do not accord with mainstream scientific opinion.  Audiences are invited to make up their own minds about these hypotheses and can visit www.teachernet.gov.uk for further guidance on the film’s content.

The screenings also coincide with a series of meetings planned by the National Park Authority to discuss the issues of climate change, sustainability and how local communities can ‘go green’ with the right help.

The meetings take place on Saturday 17th November at the Brynamman Community Centre from 10am to 1pm and Saturday 24th November at the Crickhowell Resource & Information centre from 11am to 2pm.  Refreshments will be provided at both sessions.
