Jazzing up Brecon the eco-friendly way

It may be famous for international cultural events such as HSBC Brecon Jazz, but Bannau Brycheiniog National Park is fast becoming known for its green and eco-friendly tourism, providing a huge economic boost for sustainable businesses throughout the Park.
Leading up to the three big days from 8th-10th August, HSBC Brecon Jazz and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority will be in full swing promoting eco-friendly accommodation, local Welsh food and culture, along with traffic free cycle, horse-riding and canal routes – which they hope will encourage visitors at the festival to extend their stay.
There is a wide variety of accommodation available – including new eco Podpads – allowing visitors to follow their eco-hearts to stay somewhere green.  The Park’s new website – www.breconbeacons.org and www.visitbreconbeacons.com  and www.breconjazz.co.uk all offer one-stop shops for green B&Bs, campsites, caravan parks, activity providers and tourist attractions as well as information on restaurants that serve local produce and whatever else is on offer.

Carol Williams, Tourism Growth Officer for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority said:  “Jazz fans can expect a lot more from the Bannau Brycheiniog with fantastic opportunities to walk, groove, take a journey off the beaten track or just hang out in the Park’s unique countryside to a great soundtrack.”
And for those who want to embrace the great outdoors, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park is just one big sustainable tourist attraction itself, with a network of over 2000km of well-maintained footpaths, bridleways, cycle and canal routes.  Going green has never been so easy – with its remote wilderness, contrasting with sheltered ancient woodlands, reservoirs, breathtaking waterfalls, caves and windswept uplands – this is a National Park that has something for everyone, including Jazz.
