Get fit and help the environment – volunteer with your National Park this New Year

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority is recruiting volunteers to take part in two projects at the beginning of January 2013. Volunteers are being sought to take part in footpath repair and construction in Waterfall Country, Ystradfellte on Thursday 10 of January. Help is also needed working with the Vincent Wildlife Trust in the planting of 3,000 trees at Gilestone Farm, Talybont-on-Usk on Wednesday 9 and Saturday 12 of January.

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority’s Volunteer Co-ordinator Huw Price, said: “The contribution made by volunteers here in the National Park is absolutely staggering. Over the year 2011/12 volunteers contributed 5,664 hours of time – which equates to 780 days or three years! We’re extremely thankful for all the help given by our volunteers, and I hope we will see some new faces working alongside them during the Bannau Brycheiniog Big Volunteer New Year.”

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority Chairman Julie James, added: “The time and hard work donated by volunteers really helps make this National Park tick. The New Year is the perfect time to try something new, so why not come and join us and make a real difference to our landscape?”
