People planning the journey are simply being advised to follow their noses.
The atmosphere is sure to be charged as BBC weather presenters Derek Brockway and Sue Charles swap their barometers for baking gloves in a special celebrity bake off.
Brecon’s famous Market Hall will be packed to the rafters with over 70 of Wales’ finest producers of food and drink displaying their wares which can then be devoured by hungry visitors.
There will also be a family bake off sponsored by Christ College School and a chance for local children to show that they can mix it up in the kitchen.
The festival is organised by Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority with funding from the Welsh Government. It will officially be opened at 10.00am by the Rt Hon Roger Williams MP and Kirsty Williams AM. Brecon’s roads and streets will be closed for the safety and enjoyment of visitors and to cater for the many stalls and marquees adorning the town’s streets.
BBC Wales weather presenter Derek Brockway said, “I’m looking forward again to honing my culinary skills at this year’s Brecon Food Festival and teaming up once more with my colleague and fellow weather presenter, Sue Charles. But once those oven gloves go on, the gloves will definitely be off – figure that one out if you can- as we go head to head in the kitchen. It promises to be a lot of fun and a great day out.”
The exhibitors lined up for this year’s festival has certainly whet the appetite of AndrewPowell, Catering Manager for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority. He said, “I’m thrilled that, once again, we’ve been able to attract so many excellent producers of Welsh food and drink along with some new faces too. This year, we’ll be welcoming Snowdonia Cheese, Redstone Brewery, Cowpots Ice Cream and the Parsnip Company and many more. We will also have an area celebrating the very best of all things Talgarth – The Taste of Talgarth.”
Julie James Chair of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority said, “The Brecon Beacon’s Food Festival is a wonderful occasion and provides an important platform to showcase the very best of our local produce. It’s also a great opportunity for the communities within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park to come together, to reacquaint with old friends and forge new friendships. And what better way to bring people together than good food and drink and convivial conversation. I’m sure this year’s event will be a resounding success.”
